The Story of BLIZZARD
It was a cold, dark, wintery evening at the North Pole. The snow had started to fall earlier in the day, and each passing hour saw the snow drifts growing higher and higher. Santa had spent most of his day, like he usually does, supervising his elves. The workshop was filled with the sounds of toys being built, and lots of laughing and giggling as the elves showed off their best team work to get the job done.
By early evening Santa had returned home. Outside, the wind had grown stronger, and the snow was falling faster than ever. This was turning into a true North Pole Blizzard!
Santa and Mrs. Claus had just finished their evening meal by a cozy, crackling fire, and it was time for Santa to get down to business. Every night he pulls out a HUGE BOOK filled with everyone's name, and reviews who has been naughty and who has been nice! So, while he settled into his favorite comfy chair, with his nightly mug of extra chocolatey hot cocoa, and a plate of cookies, Mrs. Claus went out to say good night to the reindeer.
Just as Santa was about to take a big bite out of one of his favorite cookies, Mrs. Claus rushed back into the room and yelled "Santa, we have a new baby reindeer!" Well, Santa was so startled that his cookie flew out of his hand, bounced off the fireplace, flipped over his chair, and landed right in Mrs. Claus's apron! Mrs. Claus just laughed, because she is quite used to Santa's silly antics. However, this was no time for silly tricks! So, Santa quickly donned his coat and hat, jumped into his boots, grabbed a lantern from the fireplace, and with Mrs. Claus right behind him, they ran out the door to meet their newest reindeer!
The storm was blustering all around them, and in the distance they could see the lights glowing softly from the barn windows. The snow, still falling thick and fast, was covering them from head to toe, as they made their way through the deep drifts of snow. Just as they reached the Reindeer Barns, the moon broke through the clouds, and Santa slowly opened the doors to see Vixen, my mom, cuddling me, while I lay sleeping next to her in our pen. She proudly looked up at Santa while he lifted his lantern and bent over to get a closer look, and while doing so, the snow that had collected on his hat and coat started to fall on me. My eyes opened slowly, and I looked around. I was covered in snow! To be exact, I was covered in North Pole Blizzard Snow! Santa looked at me, and exclaimed to my mom, "There is only one name we can give this little one." "It has got to be Blizzard", and of course, Mrs. Claus, and my mom agreed!
Just then, Mrs. Claus, who had been getting a little teary eyed seeing her newest baby reindeer, reached into her apron for a tissue, but pulled out Santa's cookie instead! She was so surprised that it flew out of her hands, bounced off of Santa's lantern, flipped over his shoulder, and landed right on top of my head! I told Santa, "Maybe, you should have called me cookie instead!" Santa let out one of his biggest belly laughs, and Mrs. Claus just shook her head, and my mom, well, my mom gave me the biggest, best nuzzle ever.
That is the story of how I first met Santa, and got my name! Today, I am at Santa's Magical Forest learning how to play flying reindeer games. I plan on studying really hard, so that one day I can become a top reindeer, and help fly Santa's sleigh. My hooves are crossed!
Be sure to tell Santa and Mrs. Claus I said hi, and thank you for visiting The North Pole!
